Rare Disease Day is the globally-coordinated movement on rare diseases, working towards equity in social opportunity, healthcare, and access to diagnosis and therapies for people living with a rare disease. Control Bionics is proud to help people all over the world living with rare diseases on Rare Disease Day 2022, and every day.
There are over 6,000 identified rare diseases, including Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). You can read about several stories about SMA from around the world at RareDiseaseDay.com. SMA weakens the muscles, making it difficult or impossible to eat, speak, or breathe on your own.
The NeuroNode Trilogy
Control Bionics’ NeuroNode Trilogy is a speech-generating device that allows individuals with difficulty speaking communicate their wants and needs to caregivers, friends, and family. We believe communication is vital to connecting with the world, and one of our youngest clients, Maeve Coffey, used our communication solution to ensure her voice could be heard in her New York classroom.
Cure SMA
We are honored to work with students like Maeve, as well as organizations like Cure SMA to bring communication to users all over the world.
Emma Lockwood, a young adult with SMA, told us, “I no longer get tired because I use the NeuroNode to select what I want instantly… The NeuroNode Trilogy System is by far the most thought out assistive technology device that I have ever seen.”
Our mission is to develop accessible, leading-edge AAC devices that can help those living with paralysis and loss of speech gain more control over their world. Control Bionics had the privilege of sponsoring the Cure SMA Walk N’ Roll this past June and look forward to more events in the future to raise awareness.
